Remedy IT Service Management Applications

Outside of ITIL, other IT Service Management approaches and frameworks exist, including the Enterprise Computing Institute's library covering general issues of large scale IT management, including various Service Management subjects. The set of best practices, which were developed in the UK in the 1980s, have become the standard for IT service management globally, despite the fact that the framework represents a dramatic shift from traditional IT thinking. ITIL is often considered alongside other best practice frameworks such as the Information Services Procurement Library (ISPL), the Application Services Library (ASL), Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM), the Capability Maturity Model (CMM/CMMI), and is often linked with IT governance through Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT).

The books are not affordable for non-commercial users. Once this work is done, the project board is asked to authorize the next stage, that of initiating the project. Once completed, the UCs should be listed in the configuration management database and linked to the recovery plan and the associated SLAs. It includes a checklist of key tasks.

While a version of ITSM is a component of ITIL, ITIL also covers a number of related but distinct disciplines and the two are not synonymous.
